2020 14.5% Long hang times and ample sunlight must account for the high abv in an Alpine wine that one would otherwise expect to be light and fresh. What’s pleasantly surprising about this wine is that–like its Alpine neighbors–it does display with pear and green plum and white flowers, it does have the minerality and thirst-quenching freshness, but it is also has pleasantly surprising power and depth. It is a surprisingly serious wine, especially if petite arvine is not a grape you know. Perfect for contemplating on its own; more perfect as a food pairing, especially with a more substantial meal.
